3.1.17. Head of cylinders


Sequence of twisting of bolts


1. Disconnect a wire of the minus plug of the accumulator.
2. Merge cooling liquid.
3. Disconnect an exhaust pipe from a collector.
4. The head of cylinders can be removed together with collectors or collectors can be removed before removal of a head.
5. If you are going to remove a head together with collectors, disconnect hoses, tubes and wires from an inlet collector. In carburetor engines disconnect a hose of hot air from a final collector.
6. If you do not remove an inlet collector, then the above-stated procedure should not be carried out.
7. Disconnect the air filter from the carburetor or from a throttle.
8. Disconnect ventilating hoses of a head of cylinders.
9. On engines of injector type, turn off grounding wires from a head of cylinders.
10. In engines volume 1,4l and 1,6l disconnect a ventilating hose of a case of the engine in a back part of a head of cylinders.
11. Weaken bolts of fastenings of the generator and disconnect a basic arm of the generator from an inlet collector.
12. Disconnect a plait of wires of fuel injectors from clips on a head of cylinders (a photo at the left), disunite the socket, and unscrew fastening of a fork of the socket from a head (a photo on the right).
13. Unscrew nuts and disconnect an inlet collector from a head of cylinders.
14. Remove laying of a collector from a head of cylinders.
15. If necessary completely remove a collector.
16. Remove a camshaft asterisk.
17. Unscrew two top bolts of a back cover of a belt.
18. Disconnect wires of high voltage from spark plugs and the coil.
19. Disconnect a ventilating hose of a case of the engine on models C 18 NZ, C 20 NE.
20. Disconnect cooler hoses from a thermostat casing.
21. In models 14 NV disconnect fuel hoses from the fuel pump.
22. Disconnect a wire from the sensor of temperature of cooling liquid.
23. Check that all hoses and tubes were disconnected.
24. Weaken all bolts of a head of cylinders in the specified sequence at first on a quarter of a turn, then on a turn floor, and then completely unscrew them (see rice. Sequence of twisting of bolts).
25. Remove a camshaft casing.
26. Remove a head of cylinders.
27. Remove yokes together with persistent linings.
28. Take hydraulic elevators.
29. Remove laying of a head of cylinders and you will throw out it.


1. Carefully clean all joined surfaces of a casing of the camshaft and a head of cylinders.
2. Establish new laying.
3. Install a head of cylinders on the block.
4. Clean hydraulic elevators.
5. Install elevators, persistent linings and yokes. Slightly grease the contact surfaces of elevators, yokes and linings with special structure (MoS2).
6. Check that the N1 piston was in VMT.
. 7. Apply sealant (P/N 90094714) on the top joined surface of a head and establish a camshaft casing
8. Insert new bolts of a head of cylinders and tighten them a hand.
9. In the specified sequence (see rice. The sequence of twisting of bolts) tighten head bolts till the required inhaling moment (a photo at the left), then hold on bolts on a necessary corner (a photo on the right), according to technical requirements.
