2.2.3.7. Speed of idling and composition of fuel mix

Adjustment

CARBURETTOR ENGINES

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. When checking speed of idling and composition of fuel mix it is necessary to observe the following:
  – warm up the engine up to the normal working temperature;
  – all electric equipment has to be switched off;
  – the corner of an advancing of ignition and spark gaps have to be correctly adjusted;
  – the rope of an accelerator has to be correctly tense;
  – the air filter should not be littered, and in system of an intake of air there should not be leaks;
  – the adjusting screw of system of bystry idling should not; to concern a cam of bystry idling when carrying out adjustment.
2. Establish a tachometer and a gas analyzer.
3. Start the engine and lift the frequency of turns to 2000 rpm approximately for 30 seconds, then leave it to work in the idling mode. Adjust idling speed by means of the lock screw of a butterfly valve if it is necessary (the arrow specified the lock screw of a butterfly valve).
4. When speed is correctly adjusted, check the SO level in exhaust gases. Adjust the SO level by means of the adjusting screw of fuel mix if it is necessary (the arrow specified the safety seal closing the screw of adjustment of composition of fuel mix).
5. Repeatedly adjust idling speed if it is necessary.

ENGINES WITH VSPRYSK FUELS

On cars with fuel injection, the speed of idling and composition of fuel mix are controlled by an electronic control unit and are not subject to adjustment.
