2.2.3.1. Engine oil and oil filter

GENERAL INFORMATION

Oil is recommended to be merged, previously having warmed up the engine.

Removal

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Lift the car. On models with the DOHC engine, remove the protective plate of the engine closing access to a cap of a drain opening.
2. Remove a cap of a jellied mouth of oil.
3. Put a container under a drain opening and turn off a cap (on the picture at the left – the SOHC model, on the right  – DOHC).
4. Wait until oil flows down, and wipe the cap pressurizing a washer and area around a drain opening. Establish a cap into place, having established a new washer. Tighten a cap till the required inhaling moment.
5. The oil filter is located on the left side of the engine on the 1,4 and 1,6 l engines and on the right side on the 1,8 and 2,0 l engines.
6. On models with the DOHC engine remove the panel closing access to an oil filter.
7. Install a container under an oil filter. Weaken a filter inhaling by means of the special tool, then unscrew the filter a hand (the SOHC model tool, on the right – DOHC is represented at the left). Clear area around an installation site of an oil filter.

Replacement

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Oil pure engine a sealing ring on the new filter and install the filter on the engine. Twirl the filter a hand
2. Lower the engine and let's it work several minutes. Check existence of leak around a cap of a drain opening and an oil filter. also fill in engine oil through a jellied opening in a cover of the valvate mechanism.
3. Start the engine.
4. On the DOHC models install the panel closing an oil filter
5. Kill the engine. In a few minutes check the level of oil and add it if it is necessary.
